The story
Luxury watch company Rolex was founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf. The adventure started in London, where Hans and brother-in-law Alfred Davis set up Wilsdorf & Davis, a firm specialising in mechanisms for luxury wristwatches. Its sights set firmly on innovation, the company was quick to file a patent in 1906 for the adjustable bracelet, now a signature feature. Wilsdorf eventually filed the Rolex trademark in London in 1908.
Six years later, Rolex left London for Geneva. It continued to innovate with the waterproof Rolex Oyster, the duo-dial Rolex Prince and the Rotor self-winding mechanism. Combining innovation and perfection, Rolex gained an unbeatable reputation for excellence.
