Since 1952, Givenchy has been challenging fashion codes with its combination of modernity, elegance and simplicity.

The story

Hubert de Givenchy learnt about fashion design alongside Lelong and Schiaparelli, before creating 'Les Séparates' in 1952, a collection comprising lightweight skirts and blouses with puff sleeves that marked the beginnings of his casual chic style. He then met Audrey Hepburn, who would become both a customer and the brand's muse for 40 years. The actress undeniably played a part in Givenchy's success, in particular thanks to Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

In 1958, the designer launched his first fragrance, 'L’Interdit' and then 10 years later a first menswear line, 'Gentleman Givenchy'. In the 1970s, the label created bags and accessories that rapidly became star products.

Givenchy today

Numerous well-known names followed on from the brand's founder: John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and the current creative director, Riccardo Tisci. The latter has renewed the label's image in a departure from Hubert de Givenchy's heritage and met with immediate success thanks to such muses as Alicia Keys and Uma Thurman.

Riccardo Tisci plays with contrasts and minimalism, using basic colors and pared-down lines in his collections. Romantic and graphic, let yourself fall for Givenchy's beautiful and timeless collections.

The key pieces:
