In 1945, Céline Vipiana founded her eponymous brand by opening a children’s shoe store at 52 rue de Malte in Paris.

The story

The quality of her designs and their success were such that three new stores soon opened in the capital. In 1960, the brand broadened its offering by launching a ready-to-wear and accessories range and a perfume called “Vent fou”. In 1967 came a new range with culottes, jersey shirts, and leather waistcoats, known as 'Couture sportwear'. This was followed by the transformation of the brand’s original logo into a double C

The brand began exporting internationally, opened 85 stores and was bought out by Bernard Arnault. In 1996, the brand joined the LVMH group and there were rapid changes of artistic director, with the first being none other than Michael Kors.

Phoebe Philo, who has been the brand’s artistic director since 2008, has continued the chic and classic world of its original creator but with the addition of a contemporary touch. Since her first Spring-Summer collection in 2010, she has opted for an elegant, minimalist look with graphic cuts and tones of white and beige as an integral part.

She also created a new take on the must-have it-bag, of which there are three, all completely recognizable but with no obvious logo: the Trapeze, the Luggage, and the Phantom…

The key pieces:

The Luggage bag, the Féline sweatshirt, the Trapeze bag...
