Fashion house Burberry has symbolised luxury and sophistication for over a century. With a truly iconic place in history, the label combines quality with originality.
The Burberry story began in 1856 when Thomas Burberry, a simple draper, opened his first shop in England. As the young man suffered from rheumatism, his doctor advised him not to wear a rubber raincoat any more, as this material didn't let the skin breathe. And so Burberry's first creations were born with outdoor apparel and raincoats in particular. In 1880, he imagined the gabardine, which was an immediate success. The brand's famous trench coat was subsequently supplied to soldiers fighting in WWI.
In 1924, Thomas created his famous camel, black and white tartan that he called Nova Check. It became the brand's trademark. When Thomas died, his two sons took over the family brand that went on to become a favorite of Queen Elisabeth II.
Nowadays Burberry is a reference in terms of elegance and quality. The label has a clothing and an accessory line, as well as a range of cosmetics and perfumes. In an attempt to satisfy its many and varied clients, the house now has 3 additional lines: Prorsum, London and Brit. In the space of 150 years Burberry has become a fixture in the world of luxury and counts Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne amongst its muses.
The famous trench coat comes in several models and colors to stay ahead of trends and the house's collections continue to please an international clientele.
